Lava Tree State Park
Situated in the Nanawale Forest Reserve outside of Pahoa, this park illustrates the long-term effects of lava. Hundreds of years ago when a fast moving hot lava flow hit this patch of wet 'O'hia trees, the lava encased the trees leaving behind hollow lava tubes where each tree once stood. The park has a tropical garden path with beautiful plants & spectacular tree structures. Entrance is free.
