Xi'an
Terracotta figures were discovered by local villagers in March 1974 when they were drilling for wells on a piece of barren land. They found fragments of terracotta warriors and many bronze weapons. In order to protect the find, a steel frame arched hall was built above the pit in 1976. The building now has good ventilation, is fireproof and burglarproof, and is humidity controlled t.o help protect the discovery. Every terracotta figure differs from those around in expressions and facial features, hand and arm gestures, style of clothing, and hairstyle.
